Standing in the darkness, calling to you in vain
Void of all emotion.. I knew I'd never love again
And it was cold there in the darkness, getting colder every day
Too many years of endless tears washed my heart away
You know I tried to love you, but you never gave me a chance
Now that I'm high above you, baby don't expect romance
Don't expect romance -- Don't expect romance
Don't expect romance -- Don't expect romance
All these empty feelings welling up inside
Replacing my sweet hunger with the venom of my pride
And who was I to turn to.. and what was I to say?
I tried to love and tried to give.. you just turned away
You know I tried to love you, but you never gave me a chance
Now that I'm high above you, baby don't expect romance
Don't expect romance -- Don't expect romance
Don't expect romance -- Don't expect romance
Style: A-Man-And-His-Wah-Pedal Rock
History: Steve wrote the music as a techno-pop synth-heavy tune long ago. It was further developed in a short-lived band that included Mark Graham on bass. It was Mark who contributed the groovy bass line for the verse. When Lost Frontier took up the song it became more rock oriented than techno-pop. At this point Steve added the riffs in the chorus section and Mike penned the lyrics.
