Walking along the city streets, another lonely night
Every dream and plan I had..lost in the city lights
Wasting time in endless bars, an endless masquerade
So ashamed.. So afraid.. And so alone
Driven by insanity and hiding from the light
Moving onward ever forward, silent in the night
A smile to hide the tears you cry inside this masquerade
But tears and pain will never change a deal that's made
All my life I've walked the same road
Burning fast for one more show
Can you help me find my way home?
Can you help me find my soul?
And all the while the people smile and life goes on the same
Everyone oblivious to the nature of our game
well let's raise a glass.. let's drink again to the finest masquerade
Stand and wear this mask until they call our name...
All my life I've walked the same road
Burning fast for one more show
Can you help me find my way home?
Can you help me find my soul?
Style: Progressive Rock
History: This piece gets the award for being a favorite of both Steve and Mike. The song was born from a slow arpeggio progression that Mike came up with for the intro and narrative verse parts. Steve expanded the song with a rocking chorus at a faster tempo. Mike suggested working the original progression back into the faster tempo, and after adding a guitar solo over yet another progression (which Steve dissected from another of his songs), this tune was complete.
